Tenchi Nage Change

Example 1, Tenchi Nage To Arm Up.

  1. Fig. 1 shows the start position for a Yokomen Uchi to get into the Tenchi Nage from Arm Down.
  2. Fig. 2 shows the end of the 1st Irimi Step with Nage's lead leg and Nage is delivering a Kuta Punch to Uke. The punch is being redirected because it encountered Uke's arm.
  3. Fig. 3 shows Nage striking Uke's face as the 2nd strike of the Tenchi Nage. Formally this is a Tegatana strike to Uke's neck.
  4. In Fig. 4 Nage has taken the 2nd Irimi Step of the Tenchi Nage and Uke is falling.

  5. In Fig. 5 Nage's back foot steps forward and around behind Uke so that Nage goes under Uke's arm lifting Uke up. This prevents Uke falling and initiates a Sankyo.
  6. In Fig. 6 Nage has stepped back cutting Uke down in the Sankyo.
  7. Fig. 7 shows Nage reversing the Sankyo and picking Uke up for an Up Arm rather than flattening Uke. From here Nage can shift into one of numerous techniques.

Example 2, Tenchi Nage To Arm Down.

  1. Fig. 8 shows the start position for a Yokomen Uchi to get into the Tenchi Nage from Arm Down.
  2. Fig. 9 shows the end of the 1st Irimi Step with Nage's lead leg and Nage is delivering a Kuta Punch to Uke. The punch is being redirected because it encountered Uke's arm.

  5. In Fig. 12 Nage has reversed Uke's right arm bringing it back to Uke's front and preventing Uke from falling. Nage has taken an Arm Down grip. Nage is executing a Tenkan movement with a strong Tornado Twist.
  6. In Fig. 13 Nage is in the Arm Down. From here Nage can shift into one of numerous techniques.
