Tanto Yokomen Arm Down

Reference: Arm Down

Example 1, Tanto Yokomen Arm Down Irimi

Movie of Tanto Yokomen Arm Down Irimi.

Fig. 1 Start Fig. 2 Yokomen Uchi Fig. 3 Kuta Punch Fig. 4 Change Sides

  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with the spacing such that Uke's extended knife and Nage's extended arm do not quite touch.
  2. Fig. 2 shows Uke's right hand striking at Nage with Yokomen Uchi. The Tanto is held as shown because this is more difficult to defend against. Nage has started moving in and Knee Pop Stomp is very important here!
  3. Fig. 3 shows Nage striking Uke's face. Nage's left arm is making contact with Uke's striking arm. It is easy for Uke to cut Nage's arm. To prevent this Nage must quickly sweep Uke's arm down.
  4. In Fig. 4 Nage has taken Uke's right arm between Uke and Nage and Nage is taking the Arm Down grip.

5. In Fig. 5 Nage has just taken the 2nd Irimi step and Uke is falling. From here Nage would finish with a technique as shown in the Tanto Tsuki Arm Down series.

  2. Fig. 7 shows Uke's right hand striking at Nage with Yokomen Uchi. The Tanto is held as shown because this is more difficult to defend against. Nage has started moving in and Knee Pop Stomp is very important here!
  3. Fig. 8 shows Nage striking Uke's face. Nage's left arm is making contact with Uke's striking arm. It is easy for Uke to cut Nage's arm. To prevent this Nage must quickly sweep Uke's arm down.
  4. In Fig. 9 Nage is sweeping Uke's right arm back and down. This is very easy if Nage pushes Uke's head back with the simulated Kuta Punch.

5. In Fig. 10 Nage has just finished sweeping down Uke's right arm and is taking the Arm Down grip.
6. Fig. 11 shows the end of the Arm Down. From here Nage would finish with a technique as shown in the Tanto Tsuki Arm Down series.
