  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with Uke and Nage separated so that the Jos do not quite touch.
  2. In Fig. 2 Uke has thrust at Nage with Jo Tsuki and Nage has executed a Jo Entry Arm thrust into Uke's face while Nage's left foot steps forward.
  3. Fig. 3 shows the tip of Nage's Jo pushed down between Uke's arms to trap Uke's arms.
  4. In Fig. 4 Nage's left foot slides forward and the butt of Nage's Jo drops down pushing Uke's Jo between Uke and Nage.

5. Fig. 5 shows the end of the 2nd Irimi step with Uke falling.
6. Fig. 6 shows one possible follow up.

  1. Fig. 7 shows the start with Uke and Nage separated so that the Jos do not quite touch.
  2. Fig. 8 shows Nage's rear foot stepping forward and Nage's Jo reversing and parrying Uke's Jo Tsuki.
  3. In Fig. 9 Nage does an Entry Arm thrust to Uke's face with the butt of the Jo.
  4. Fig. 10 shows Nage inserting the butt of the Jo between Uke's arms to trap Uke's arms. Nage's right foot has moved forward beside Uke's lead foot for the 1st Tenkan Step.

5. In Fig. 11 Nage's left foot has stepped back for the 2nd Tenkan Step and the Tornado Twist has started.
6. In Fig. 12 Nage has finished the Tornado Twist and Uke is falling.
