Tachi Shomen Irimi Nage

  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Nage's extended lead hand does not quite touch Uke's extended Boken.
  2. In Fig. 2 Uke's Boken is at the top of the Tachi Shomen Uchi and Nage has started moving in.
  3. In Fig. 3 Nage does a Kuta punch to Uke's face at the end of the entry step. Nage's left hand grabs Uke's right hand and the Boken for the Arm Down grip.
  4. In Fig. 4 Nage's right hand has grabbed the handle of the Boken between Uke's hands and Nage is pushing the Boken between Uke and Nage by pushing on Uke's right hand and pulling on the handle of the Boken to make the blade go back towards Uke.

  5. In Fig. 5 Nage's left foot steps toward Uke and Nage's left hand reaches behind Uke's neck and grabs Uke's neck on the left side. It is best to grab nerves but Uke's don't care for this much. Nage's right hand maintains its control of the boken and turns Uke as Nage's body moves in.
  6. In Fig. 6 Nage is throwing Uke with the Irimi Nage. Nage's right arm comes up striking Uke's face and forcing Uke's head back and twisted so that Uke's face is to Uke's left. This happens while Nage's right leg steps in by Uke's left leg.
  7. In Fig. 7 Nage's left leg has stepped back spinning Uke around and down.
  8. Fig. 8 shows Nage grabbing the handle of the boken being certain that the edge is away from Nage.

9. In Fig. 9 Nage has stepped around Uke's head turning Uke over and taking the Boken.

  1. Fig. 10 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Nage's extended lead hand does not quite touch Uke's extended Boken.
  2. In Fig. 11 Uke's Boken is at the top of the Tachi Shomen Uchi and Nage's left foot has started stepping forward.
  3. In Fig. 12 Nage does a Kuta punch to Uke's face at the end of the entry step.
  4. In Fig. 13 Nage's left foot steps toward Uke and Nage's left hand reaches behind Uke's neck and grabs Uke's neck on the left side. It is best to grab nerves but Uke's don't care for this much. Nage's right hand controls the boken and turns Uke as Nage's body moves in.

  5. In Fig. 14 Nage is throwing Uke with the Irimi Nage. Nage's right arm comes up striking Uke's face and forcing Uke's head back and twisted so that Uke's face is to Uke's left. This happens while Nage's right leg steps back bringing Uke around clockwise from the top with the Tornado Twist.
  6. Fig. 15 shows Uke on the ground from the throw. Nage has reversed the Tornado Twist from Fig. 14 bringing Uke back and is now stepping forward driving Uke down.
  7. In Fig. 16 Nage's right hand grabs the handle of the Boken between Uke's hands making sure that the edge is away from Nage.
  8. In Fig.17 Nage has stepped around Uke's head turning Uke over and is taking the Boken.
