  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Uke's extended lead hand does not quite touch Nage's extended sword.
  2. In Fig. 2 Nage's Boken is at the top of the Tachi Shomen Uchi and Uke is starting to move forward.
  3. In Fig. 3 Uke steps in and grasp Nage's wrist with Morote Tori. Uke has stepped with the wrong foot.
  4. In Fig. 4 Nage moves back slightly, pulling Uke forward and at the same time drops the tip of the Boken bringing the boken between Uke and Nage in the typical Arm Down fashion. Nage's right foot has taken the 1st Irimi Step.

  5. In Fig. 5 Nage has just taken the 2nd Irimi Step and has Uke well off balance near the end of the Arm Down. Nage has not bumped Uke to prevent knocking Uke down. It is time for Nage to change to Cut Up.
  6. Fig. 6 shows the end of the 1st Cut Up Step. Nage's right foot has stepped out stretching Uke out.
  7. Fig. 7 shows the end of the 2nd Cut Up Step with Nage's left foot taking another step out and Nage is cutting up into Uke.

  1. Fig. 8 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Uke's extended lead hand does not quite touch Nage's extended sword.

  5. In Fig. 12 Nage has just taken the 1st Tenkan Step.
  6. Fig. 13 shows the end of the 2nd Tenkan Step. Nage's is near the end of the Arm Down.
  7. Fig. 14 shows the end of the Cut Up Step with Nage's left foot taking a step back to stretch out Uke and Nage is cutting up into Uke.
