Tachi Morote Tori Kote Gaeshi

  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Uke's extended lead hand does not quite touch Nage's extended sword.
  2. In Fig. 2 Nage's Boken is at the top of the Tachi Shomen Uchi and Uke has started moving in.
  3. In Fig. 3 Uke steps in and grasp Nage's wrist with Morote Tori.
  4. In Fig. 4 Nage moves back slightly, pulling Uke forward and at the same time drops the tip of the Boken bringing the boken between Uke and Nage in the typical Arm Down fashion.

  5. In Fig. 5 Nage has just taken the 2nd Irimi Step and has Uke well off balance near the end of the Arm Down. It is time for Nage to change to Kote Gaeshi.
  6. Fig. 6 shows the end of the 1st Kote Gaeshi Step. Nage's left hand has taken the Kote Gaeshi grip on Uke's right hand.
  7. Fig. 7 shows the end of the 2nd Kote Gaeshi Step and Uke is falling.
  8. Fig. 8 shows the end with Nage free and Uke under the blade.

  1. Fig. 9 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Uke's extended lead hand does not quite touch Nage's extended sword.
  2. In Fig. 10 Nage's Boken is at the top of the Tachi Shomen Uchi and Uke has started moving in.
  3. In Fig. 11 Uke steps in and grasp Nage's wrist with Morote Tori. Uke stepped with the wrong foot.
  4. In Fig. 12 Nage moves back slightly, pulling Uke forward and at the same time drops the tip of the Boken bringing the boken between Uke and Nage in the typical Arm Down fashion.

  5. In Fig. 13 Nage has just taken the 1st Tenkan Step.
  6. Fig. 14 shows the end of the Arm Down. Nage is now ready to start the Kote Gaeshi.
  7. Fig. 15 shows Uke falling from the Kote Gaeshi Step.
  8. Fig. 16 shows the end with Nage free.
