Tachi Shomen Shiho Nage

  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Nage's extended lead hand does not quite touch Uke's extended sword.
  2. In Fig. 2 Uke strikes at Nage with Tachi Shomen Uchi and Nage steps in to Nage's right of Uke's cut.
  3. In Fig. 3 Nage does a Kuta punch to Uke's face at the end of the entry step. Nage's left hand grabs Uke's right hand and the Boken for the Shiho Nage grip.
  4. Fig. 4 shows Nage's head going under Uke's arms. Nage's right hand has grabbed the handle of the Boken between Uke's hands for the Shiho Nage grip.

5. Fig. 5 shows Uke falling near the end of the Shiho Nage. The easiest way to take the Boken is to throw Uke very hard. Shiho Nage is a throw that makes it easy to kill or seriously injure Uke. In practice be very nice to Uke.

  1. Fig. 6 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that Nage's extended lead hand does not quite touch Uke's extended sword.
  2. Fig. 7 shows Uke's Boken all of the way back as Uke comes in with Tachi Shomen Uchi.
  3. In Fig. 8 Nage's back foot has stepped to Uke's right and Nage delivers a Kuta punch to Uke's face at the end of the entry step. Nage's right hand grabs Uke's Boken between Uke's hands for the Shiho Nage grip.
  4. Fig. 9 shows Nage's head going under Uke's arms. Nage's left hand has grabbed Uke's right hand and Boken for the Shiho Nage grip.

  5. Fig. 10 shows the end of the 2nd Tenkan step and Uke is falling.
  6. Fig. 11 shows Uke on the ground. The easiest way to take the Boken is to throw Uke very hard. Shiho Nage is a throw that makes it easy to kill or seriously injure Uke. In practice be very nice to Uke.
  7. Fig. 12 shows Nage stepping around Uke's head to turn Uke over.
  8. Fig. 13 shows Nage taking the Boken.
