  1. Fig. 1 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that their swords do not quite touch.
  2. In Fig. 2 Uke strikes at Nage with Tachi Shomen Uchi and Nage steps in thrusting up between Uke's arms into Uke's throat. At the same time Nage grabs Uke's boken, palm down, with Nage's left thumb towards the pommel of the boken. This gives the proper grip for Arm Down.
  3. Fig. 3 shows the continuation of the thrust up between Uke's arms. Nage's right hand has lifted pulling up Uke's left elbow as Nage's right hand pushes the boken handle between Uke and Nage. This action causes the blade to point down and back towards Uke so that Nage does not get cut. Nage's right foot has shifted forward for the 1st Irimi Step.
  4. Fig. 4 shows Uke falling after Nage takes the 2nd Irimi Step and is into the Tornado Twist.

  1. Fig. 5 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that their swords do not quite touch.
  2. In Fig. 6 Uke strikes at Nage with Tachi Shomen Uchi and Nage steps in parrying the strike.
  3. Fig. 7 shows Nage punch Uke in the face as Nage steps in.
  4. Fig. 8 shows the end of the 1st Tenkan Step. Nage has grabbed Uke's right wrist for the Arm Down.

5. Fig. 9 shows Uke falling after the 2nd Tenkan step during the Tornado Twist.
