  3. Fig. 3 shows the continuation of the parry into a pommel strike into Uke's face. At the same time Nage's left hand releases Nage's boken and grabs Uke's boken, palm up, between Uke's hands.
  4. Fig. 4 shows Nage inserting the tip of Nage's boken down between Uke's arms to trap Uke's arms for the Ikkyo.

Fig. 7 Start Fig. 8 Thrust Fig. 9 Ikkyo Position Fig. 10 Throw

  1. Fig. 7 shows the start with Uke and Nage spaced so that their swords do not quite touch.
  2. In Fig. 8 Uke strikes at Nage with Tachi Shomen Uchi and Nage enters pushing the boken up between Uke's arms into Uke's throat.
  3. In Fig. 9 Nage has taken the 1st Tenkan Step. At the same time Nage's left hand slides toward Nage's right hand and raises the handle of the boken lifting Uke's right elbow and lowering Uke's left elbow. Nage's right hand releases Nage's boken and grabs Uke's right hand and boken palm down. It is essential that Nage's right hand holds the boken so that Uke's right hand cannot release the boken allowing Uke's left hand to cut Nage.
  4. Fig. 10 shows Nage after the 2nd Tenkan Step doing the Tornado Twist and throwing Uke with Ikkyo.
